We are all using internet and it’s various services every day. But when talking about your identity on web, you may be confused. You are aware about your PC’s (Or other device through which you are accessing internet) Yeah it is called IP Addresses, Internet Protocol Addresses. Each and every internet accessing gadget has its own and specific IP Address which also being used for tracking you. You may have noticed or not, June 6 2012 was a great day in the history because ultimate service had acquired one of its major improvements. The improvement is called IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) which is the latest version of Internet Protocol Addresses.

IPv6 technology to rename internet

IPv6 is a brand new Networking Technology which has capability to provide about 340 trillion trillion trillion IP Addresses.  At this time of increasing internet devices, it is very much required. And so, each and every internet accessing device can get it’s unique and public IPs through this new technology. In the existing IPv4 technology, a very small number of IP addresses are supported. Since IPs are specialized for each region of world, most of countries has reported that they are about to face IP Address crisis. Through introduction and activation of IPv6, these problems will be solved.

Web Service Providers, Internet Service Providers has shifted to this technology. Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) is the one who is promoting this brand new technology. Currently our PC’s IP Address has a length of 10 Digits. By the complete activation of IPv6, IP Addresses length will be extended upto 100 digits. So the world can have a huge number of IP addresses for each device and no crisis will be there soon. If we are using IPv6, even if a person is having 10 Internet Accessing Gadgets, there will be a huge number of IP Address varieties. So the rest will be preserved for next generation’s internet users.

Tri Nguyen, a representative of ZyXel, says: “All devices will be accessible on the public network, making it easier for people to manage things like home automation, file sharing, online gaming, peer-to-peer programs and other applications without complex settings on their router.” He also added that there are some features in IPv6 which provides more security than IPv4. This new technology can also prevent packet spoofing. Through IPv6, users/service providers can confirm that the traffic is reaching at the correct destination with no interception. So all over, it is much better to shift to the new IPv6. As per the comments of Tri Nguyen, IPv6 also accelerates data transmission by the efficiency while handling data packets.

International Agencies says that they can complete this shifting from IPv4 to IPv6 will be done in 2 years. And both IPv6 and IPv4 will be working smoothly. Agencies also aim 1% of global internet users to be using IPv6 technology in this month. Majority of technology and web giants like Microsoft,Google, Cisco, Yahoo, FacebookYouTube etc. has made their move to IPv6. IPv6 will also open a great pool of variety domain names. So you can expect .google and .youtube domains soon. And when all devices are capable of IPv6 Networking Technology, it will bring a better internet with more security and features.

But still, there is a persisting problem. Most of the current internet devices are not able to move with IPv6. And so it may take a while to distribute IPv6 in global level  Since IPv6 is compatible with IPv4, you may not need a sudden shift .  IPv6 is very much important in the case of India since majority of available IP Addresses is now consumed by huge Indian population and facing an IP Address crisis. So let us hope for IPv6 and its awesome features soon. If you want to know more about this, you May go to their Official Homepage.

The deleted photos on Facebook does not disappear from the server, but remain accessible to anyone with a simple link to the page that contains them. Yet another privacy scandal of the most popular social network in the world was discovered by a journalist and then accepted by the same group of Mark Zuckerberg, who has confirmed that its systems ‘does not always delete the images in a reasonable period of time’.

The news was welcomed as a shock to users who trusted the delete function to remove their photos embarrassing. Deleted pictures, however, are no longer present by the normal viewing of the site (by logging on profile or page of photos of a user) but remain visible typing the direct link.

This means that, for example, if the address is circulated via email, the image will still be viewable by anyone you click on it. Facebook has repeatedly promised to ‘solve’ the problems of this system is used to remove the photographs, but the issue continues to affect a significant percentage of images, some still present after three years.

The company says that the next system update will solve these problems, but in this case the deleted images remain available until 45 days after their removal. ‘We are working hard to move our picture storage to newer systems that will ensure a complete cancellation within 45 days of the removal request, ‘said a spokesman.’ The migration process will be completed within the next two months. ‘

But on other social networks where do our photos? The original study of Ars Tecnica, which first raised the issue, dating back to July 2009, he tested four social media as well as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Flickr. In addition to the site of Zuckerberg, the only one to fail the inspection, ie the only one who did not remove the photos immediately deleted from their servers, it was MySpace. As for the other sites, but users can rest easy.

Google is open for teens

Google’s social networking site, Google+ is now officially opened for an even wider audience – teenagers. Up until now, a person had to be 18 years old to join on Google+ social network. This step apparently to play catch-up with Facebook, who needs its users to be 13 or older.

In a statement made recently, Google explained that Google+, which until now was solely available to those old 18 and above, will now have teenagers onboard, as well. The search giant confirms adding in some extra security features in place for its fresh set of audience. Although Google+ for Teens, will be pretty much like Google+ for Adults, there will be a several differences. Google+ for Teens will comprise a lot of in-product instruction, which will in its part do it job of “educating” a teen user what clicking a particular option will do, in addition to, some ‘conservative’ default options.

Here is a summary of tweaks to privacy that Google+ has made especially for the teens:

  • Teens notice a warning when they share with “Public” or “Extended Circles”
  • Teens wil be automatically muted if a stranger outside their circles joins a hangout
  • By default, only the people in teens’ circles can communicate with them and their posts

To help the new effort to bring teens and teen-focused content to Google+, they have introduced a Safety Center that parents should check with their teens before they start joining the service.

Google is spending quite a bit of money on marketing for the Google+, to conquer the social networking arena. Even though, it might be too late to catch up with Facebook when it comes to the younger crowd? I do think so. Facebook has a variety of apps and 800 million other folks to connect with, and I haven’t noticed a feature on Google+ yet that will draw that Facebook crowd away from it. While Hangouts could be a fun teen substitution for phone calls, it just doesn’t look like a service for youngsters. Let us know your views in the comments section below.

Windows 8 Secrets: PC and Device Requirements

Last month, Microsoft released its hardware requirement documentation for Windows 8 logo certification. This documentation contains Microsoft’s guidelines for designing systems which successfully meet Windows performance, quality, and feature criteria, to assure the optimum Windows 8 computing experience. As you’ve probably noticed, the blogosphere is hung up on one of the Secure Boot on ARM requirements, thanks to a single misguided post about this issue, completely missing the far more interesting information peppered throughout the document.

Here’s some of the more interesting requirements.

5-point digitizers
Microsoft requires that Windows 8 touch PCs use digitizers supporting a minimum of 5 touch points. Yep, you no longer have to hunt down information to answer that question: “Hey, does this thing do multi-touch?”. This requirement ensures your Windows 8 certified PC supports at least a hand of fingers on the screen, for all those gestures and finger-painting activities.

“Hey Windows 8, this is HP TouchSmart… you win.” (Even the newest HP TouchSmart only works with two touch points.)

NFC “touch marks”
Microsoft requires that Windows 8 PCs featuring NFC technology have “touch marks”. This one is a no brainer – A PC, likely a tablet or slate, must have a sticker or similar signage indicating where another NFC capable device can mate with it. I bring this up because we’re not used to NFC being visible in this manner. Today, NFC is available in Google’s new Galaxy Nexus phone for the most part. To invoke it, you presumably start a supportive application and mash it onto a NFC reader, moving it around until it beeps. With a larger form factor, however, knowing where the sensor is physically located becomes crucial to avoid Neanderthal-like clashing of tablets.

Hardware buttons
Microsoft requires that Windows 8 tablet/convertible PCs have 5 hardware buttons. Not three; not six. Five. Those buttons are:

  • Power
  • Rotation lock
  • Windows Key
  • Volume up
  • Volume down

The Windows Key will be at least 10.5 mm in diameter and be sported in any number of shapes (e.g. circular, rectangular, square).

New button combo for CTRL + ALT + DEL
Microsoft requires that Windows 8 PCs joined to a domain and without keyboards implement new Ctrl+Alt-Del sequence. While the on-screen keyboard remains an option for logging into a domain-joined PC, the quicker (and new) option is to press Windows Key + Power.

Minimum component set for tablets and convertible PCs
Microsoft requires that Windows 8 tablet/convertible PCs feature a minimum set of components. Requiring partners to install a baseline set of components isn’t new, but we can now begin to drool over what future Windows 8 tablets/convertible PCs will look like. Here’s what a bare minimum Windows 8 tablet would look like:

  • Storage: At least 10gb free space after the out-of-box experience completes
  • System firmware: UEFI
  • Networking: WLAN and Bluetooth 4.0 + LE (low energy)
  • Graphics: Direct3D 10 device w/ WDDM 1.2 driver
  • Resolution: 1366×768
  • Touch support: At least 5 touch points, must pass all tests
  • Camera: 720p
  • Ambient Light Sensor: 1-30k lux capable w/ dynamic range of 5-60K
  • Magnetometer
  • Accelerometer: 3 axes w/ data rates >= 50Hz
  • Gyroscope
  • USB 2.0: At least one controller and exposed port
  • Speakers

No reboot driver upgrades
Microsoft requires that Windows 8 PCs support no-reboot upgrade of graphic card drivers. Finally. While Windows Vista has supported reboot-less upgrades of WDDM drivers, enforcing that requirement was hard with unified driver sets containing both XDDM and WDDM drivers mixed in. With XDDM drivers gone in Windows 8, however, enforcement is easy and should be welcomed by users and gaming enthusiasts with wide open arms.

2 second resume … but not for ARM
Microsoft doesn’t require that Windows 8 ARM PCs resume in two seconds or less … only Intel-compatible Windows 8 PCs have this requirement. And yes, the two seconds max for Standby (S3) to “resume complete” requirement was in place since Windows 7. But I suspect ARM doesn’t come with this requirement because of architecture implementation volatility or, more likely, that Microsoft simply doesn’t yet have enough data in this space. As ARM improves and matures as a Windows host, I suspect we’ll see this requirement pop up in a future release.
